Being a stay at home mom stinks sometimes! Although the alternative to working and leaving my baby somewhere else is unfathomable, there are some days when I wish I could just go to work for 12 hours, take a break every couple hours, eat lunch uninterrupted, and feel like I made a difference. Instead, I wake up after about 5 interrupted hours of sleep, wipe a stinky butt all day, find myself covered in vomit and urine, and have a tiny human who seems permanently attached to my chest. Not to mention the housework, finances, and classes. I cant remember the last time I had food that wasn't made in the microwave. Most of my conversations are in a high pitched voice and use made up words where I speak to my son, not very stimulating, he laughs at walls. This week has been particularly hard because he got his shots. I expected a crabby, feverish kid. Instead, he just wouldn't sleep! Not grumpy, just not tired. He was awake for 14 hours!! I can't even stay awake for 14 hours!!! Thank goodness, he has been asleep so far for three consecutive hours. Hallelujah! I need a night off but I feel so bad for dropping him off somewhere, he has colic, he just cries for hours at night. The doctor says colic usually subsides by 3 months, just one more month to go! I'm happy I have a healthy, (mostly) happy child, but keeping my sanity is hard!

So last time they checked a weight on the kid, he was measuring really small. We were worried my health problems had begun to affect him. Yesterday, they weighed him again; he's in the 90th percentile. I guess growth can happen in spurts. It's freaking me out that I have a 6 pound human in me (but I'm more excited that he's okay!).

You know what I hate about my job?

Nothing!

My niece just called and asked if I wanted to come over and celebrate her birthday. Although I usually go in at 4, I think I would rather have a cookout with my sister and her kids. And since I have no set schedule or hours, I can go into work whenever I want.

Dave took the label from the home-made beef jerky and put it on the back of my jeans. I didn't notice until now so I've been walking around with a sticker that says "HOT" on my ass all day. I'm kind of embarrassed, but mostly glad I sit on my butt all day at work. I'm trying to be mad but it's pretty funny.

We have folders for every day of the month that we put that days' reports into. A woman I work with showed one to me and said "does that say 7/31 or 7/37?" I didn't really know what to say. How many months have 37 days?

And then, a man was discharged from the hopsital with instructions to take 800 mg of ibuprofen for pain. He had a bottle of ibuprofen that said 200 mg on the label. He wanted to know if it was 200 mg per tablet or per bottle. Does it sound right that you would take 4 bottles of ibuprofen for one dose of pain relief?

How do people like that function in day to day life?

I thought Paco was lonely so I brought Doorstop to come live with us. I thought maybe he just needed a friend and then he would stop following me around and meowing at me. Now, instead, they both follow me; he meows and Doorstop nibbles on my toes. They still kind of fight over who gets to sleep with us but other than that, get along pretty ok.

My niece has a MySpace. There's something very weird about reading her myspace account and thinking about how it seems just yesterday that I used to hold her and help her walk. I remember wanting to hear her talk and now she doesnt shut up. It's kinda cool to read her myspace though; I'm pretty proud of how she's grown up.
